Venango County Car Accident Injures Man On Porch

July 14, 2014

A Venango County car accident resulted in serious injuries to a Sandy Creek man who was sitting on his porch when a van drove into his house this past Saturday.  Police report that Richard B. Mong, 83, was sitting on his front porch at 1658 Pittsburgh Road/Route 8 in Sandycreek Township when a 2004 Kia Sedona and struck his house.

The Kia Sedona was reportedly driven by Michael L. Nearhoof, 42, of Kennerdale.  Nearhoof was southbound on Route 8 when his vehicle drove off the right  side of the roadway, struck a guardrail, traveled through Mr. Mong’s yard, hit a business sign and ultimately Mr. Mong’s porch and house.

Mr. Mong was thrown from the porch in the Venango County car accident and suffered major chest and head injuries.  He was taken to UPMC Hamot for treatment where he is listed in serious condition.  Mr. Nearhoof was not injured in the Franklin, PA area car accident.

Our thoughts are with Mr. Mong and his family as we hope for a rapid and complete recovery from his Pennsylvania car accident injuries.
