Pennsylvania Insurance Lawyers You Cannot Trust Your Insurance Company

April 4, 2011

April 5, 2011, ERIE, PA — We often write here about the adversarial relationship between people and their insurance companies. For those of you who are regular readers, it might sound like we’re something of a one note band. The problem, though, is that we keep running into people who trust their insurance companies to be fair with them…with depressingly predictable results. So, until we stop meeting people who’ve been cheated by their own insurance companies, we’re going to keep beating that tired old drum.

The Latest Case of a Pennsylvania Insurance Company Behaving Badly

The latest example is a case we wrote about in our Case Results and Verdicts section. You can get all the details HERE . The short version, though, goes like this.

A man was badly hurt in a car accident. The at-fault driver had no insurance and so the man’s only recourse was to make a claim with his own insurance company for his Pennsylvania uninsured motorist benefits . He had only $100,000 in coverage and his case was plainly worth far more than that. The man didn’t talk to a lawyer first. He trusted his insurance company. Guess what? They told him his Pennsylvania uninsured motorist claim was worth less than his full coverage and persuaded him to accept a check for less than the full amount!

Purchase and George Helped

Fortunately, the man came to us for a different problem and, in the course of our investigation, we uncovered what his own insurance company had done. When we made it clear that we were going to expose their dirty little trick, the insurance company caved in and paid our client the balance of what they owed him.

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: You cannot trust your Pennsylvania auto insurance company to be fair with you! If they think they can get away with paying you less than what your claim is worth then they will try to pay you less than what your claim is worth. It’s that simple. Unless you know what you’re doing, unless you’ve got a wealth of experience valuing and handling insurance claims and unless you’re prepared to prosecute your claim through litigation, you should contact an experienced Pennsylvania insurance claim lawyer for a free consultation. At a minimum, the Pennsylvania lawyer ought to be able to tell you whether or not he can help you with your case.
