Meadville Car Accident Lawyers Investigation Ongoing In I 79 Wrong Way Crash

October 1, 2010

October 2, 2010, Meadville, PA — The investigation continues into a crash on I-79 that occurred when Raymond Janiuk, 78, drove his car north in the southbound lanes of Interstate 79 near Cussewago Township. Our initial entry about this accident is available HERE.

Police say Mr. Janiuk, of Erie, was driving a Hyundai Elantra north in the southbound passing lane of I-79 shortly before 7 pm when the Crawford County car accident occurred. He sideswiped one southbound vehicle and struck another head on.

Mr. Janiuk and 8 year old girl who had been a passenger in his car were taken to St. Vincent Health Center. Mr. Janiuk was treated and released from the hospital. No information is available about the status of the 8 year old girl but we hope that is because she was released and the hospital is not providing information about her due to her status as a minor.

The driver of the sideswiped vehicle, Keira N. Attleberger, 34, of Oil City, was taken to Millcreek Community Hospital. No information was available about her condition either and we similarly hope she has been released.

Paul T. Manning, 44, of Meadville, was the driver of the vehicle struck head on. Mr. Manning reportedly refused treatment at the scene.

Yesterday police indicated they suspected a medical condition might have led to the wrong way car accident. No further information was available about this aspect of the case today. As Crawford County car accident lawyers, we have handled multiple car accident cases in which medical emergency was an issue in the case and we know that the proper work-up of such a case requires a complete medical records investigation followed by review and analysis from properly qualified experts who have not only the knowledge and experience to analyze the issue but also the skill to relay that information to a jury.
