Man Faces Assault Charge After Dwi Crash

July 29, 2016

So many accidents are caused by individuals driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. In fact, it may seem as though it is the majority, and in Pennsylvania, it is no different. In a recent article, we learn of a 52-year-old Pennsylvania man who is now facing several charges after causing a wreck on the highway.

According to reports, the man, who was believed to be under the influence of alcohol, was driving on the highway on a Wednesday when he attempted to make a right turn and lost control of his pickup truck. His vehicle then struck a center barrier and came to a stop in the left lane of traffic. A car traveling behind the pickup truck then collided with it as a result. The car’s driver, a 54-year-old man, suffered minor injuries to his forearm and was transported to the hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Authorities say the 52-year-old pickup truck driver showed signs of being intoxicated. After being unable to complete a field sobriety test, the 52-year-old was taken into police custody. He now faces several charges including reckless driving, assault by auto, driving under the influence and driving with an open container of alcohol in the vehicle.

Fortunately, neither of the two men was seriously injured and will likely make a full recovery from their minor injuries. Of course, this is not always the case and many accidents caused by drunk driving do result in serious injury and loss of life. If you have been injured by a drunk driver, you may benefit by working with an experienced attorney. With their help, you may be able to receive compensation for your injuries.
