Erie Motorcycle Lawyers Warn Roar On The Shore Means Be Alert For Bikers

July 13, 2011

July 14, 2011, ERIE, PA — Roar on the Shore starts today. This great Erie summertime event can be a ton of fun. The “Bringing the Roar” motorcycle parade kicks things off today and there are literally loads of collateral events all over the city. My father, for example, tells me he will head to the Maennerchor for their traditional pig roast to mark the big event and I know we’ll be taking the kids downtown to see and hear the thousands of bikes that will be touring the area.

Naturally, though, the Erie accident and injury lawyer in me can’t help but be reminded that every year this event draws thousands of bikers to the city for the weekend and every year there is a spike in Erie motorcycle accidents, injuries and deaths because motorists aren’t looking for these bikes. I said to my wife this morning, as I read the paper, “Remember, it’s Roar on the Shore weekend. Be alert for those bikes.” Her response, “I know. They can be really hard to see.”

She’s right, of course. Motorcycles can be hard to see. But they can be seen, if you look. That’s why it’s important to remember that they are there, remember to look for them and take the extra moment for someone else’s safety.

Let’s make this the first year of “Roar on the Shore” when, despite the presence of thousands of bikers, there was not a single fatal Erie motorcycle accident.
