January 2, 2011, Meadville, PA — In sad news of the new year, a young man died in an early morning accident on Shreve Ridge Road in Crawford County today. Shane Burek, 21, was southbound when he hit a large pool of water in the roadway in Bloomfield Township. He apparently lost control of his truck, which left the roadway and struck a tree.
Mr. Burek, reportedly of Erie County, was pronounced dead at the scene by a deputy Crawford County Coroner. The Crawford County car accident occurred near 4:30 a.m.
There are many things unknown about this accident, not least of which is why a large pool of water was present in the middle of the road. Occasionally such pools of water occur when roadside drainage ditches are clogged or obstructed by accumulated snow or debris. If the pool of water was a chronic problem and attributable to a road defect like improper grading then it may be that the state or Bloomfield Township may be liable for Mr. Burek’s death. Much will turn on what is learned about the circumstances of the accident, of course.
Our thoughts are with Mr. Burek’s family as they grieve his loss.
Mr. George and his entire office staff were very kind and helping me through my first ever experience with the law. He was able to get me exactly what he said he would in the outcome of my trial. The entire staff was very informative and kept me up to
date on everything. Very pleased with my experience and would most definately recommend him to others.
