February 6, 2011, ERIE, PA — Two people were injured Saturday night in an Erie I-79 crash in which a Jeep Cherokee crashed through a guardrail near the 32nd Street overpass. A man and woman were in the vehicle and taken to UPMC Hamot for treatment. Their identities were not immediately available.
Witnesses report that the Cherokee was southbound when it swerved into the passing lane and then skidded back across the right lane before crashing through the guard rail and rolling down the hill on the west end of the overpass.
Rescue crews were called to remove the man and woman from the wreckage.
