A tragic Pennsylvania motorcycle accident took the life of a 49 year old man and injured his wife in Bloomfield Township Friday night. Few details about the Crawford County motorcycle crash were available aside from the facts that the motorcycle was struck by a car at the intersection of Route 8 and Mount Pleasant Road near 6:22 p.m.
Two helicopters transported the motorcycle occupants from the scene of the accident. The man was taken to Corry Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead. His wife was taken to UPMC Hamot where her condition is currently unknown.
There is no information about how the accident happened. It is not uncommon, however, for motorists at intersections to fail to yield to motorcyclists. This time of year, it is important for all drivers to be aware that they share the road with motoryclists who are extremely vulnerable. It is important to look twice and yield to motorcyclists.
