Crawford County Motorcycle Accident Lawyers Lippert Road Accident

June 19, 2011

June 20, 2011, Cochranton, PA — A depressingly familiar Pennsylvania motorcycle accident scenario was reported in the Erie Times News today. According to the Times, Randy Jay Galmish, 42, of Guys Mills, Pennsylvania, was injured when he dumped his motorcycle trying to avoid an accident with an inattentive driver.

Mr. Galmish was southbound on Route 173 near Lippert Road in Wayne Township at the time of the accident. An unidentified northbound car driver turned left in front of him, apparently to enter a private driveway. To avoid the impact, Mr. Galmish laid down his 2003 Suzuki Intruder Boulevard but was injured in the process. Initial reports at the scene were that Mr. Galmish’s injuries were not life-threatening.

We’re pleased that Mr. Galmish’s injuries are reported as moderate (although they probably don’t seem moderate to Mr. Galmish). However, this scenario is exactly the sort of situation we see summer after summer in countless motorcycle accident cases. Car drivers turn left in front of motorcyclists and afterwards say, “I never saw him. It was like he appeared out of nowhere.”

We’ve gone on here before about this but it’s summer folks and if you’re driving a car you need to be aware that you share the road with motorcyclists. They can be hard to see, true. But they don’t appear out of nowhere and if you’re looking for them then you ought to be able to avoid turning left in front of them.
