August 1, 2011, Linesville, PA — A Sunday morning car accident in Crawford County has three people in an Erie hospital today. Early reports are that the driver of a 1997 Ford Explorer was going too fast on Townline Road between Wheeler Road and Dicksonburg Roads in Conneaut Township and lost control, striking a parked platform trailer.
The driver of the Explorer is in fair condition at UPMC Hamot (after first being seen at Meadville Medical Center) and one passenger reportedly suffered only a minor injury in the Crawford County car wreck. Unfortunately, two other passengers, including a teenager, are in serious condition at UPMC Hamot.*
It appears that the injured teen may have been related to the driver in the Pennsylvania car crash.
One car accidents in Pennsylvania, particularly when there are family ties between driver and injured passengers, can present problems when dealing with the insurance companies. Insurance companies know that relatives and friends can be reluctant to bring claims against one another and the insurance companies sometimes use that relationship to reduce the amount they have to pay to compensate the injured passenger. The truth, however, is that family connections should not have any bearing on the value of the claim and an experienced Pennsylvania injury lawyer should be able to get past the tactics of a Pennsylvania insurance company who tries to suggest otherwise.
