Crawford County Car Accident Lawyers Wrong Way I 79 Crash Injures 3

September 30, 2010

October 1, 2010, Meadville, PA — A man going the wrong way on Interstate 79 in Cussewago Township sideswiped one vehicle and crashed headlong into another, injuring three people last night. Raymond Janiuk, 78, of Erie, was driving his 2004 Hyundai Elantra north in the southbound lane of I-79 in Crawford County near 7 pm last night. With him was an unidentified 8 year old passenger.

Mr. Janiuk sideswiped a 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan driven by Keira Attleberger, 34, of Oil City and then crashed head on into a 2002 Ford Windstar driven by Paul Manning, 44, of Meadville.

Mr. Janiuk and his 8 year old passenger were taken by ambulance to Saint Vincent Medical Center. No information was available on their condition. Ms. Attleberger was taken by ambulance to Millcreek Community Hospital. Little is known about her condition either but hospital officials offered information that suggests she was not admitted and so we hold out hope that her injuries were not life threatening.

State police do not know why Mr. Janiuk was traveling the wrong way on the interstate. They speculate that a medical condition may be involved.

As Erie car accident lawyers who’ve handled scenarios similar to this one, we know that unraveling a case like this depends upon timely and thorough investigation by people trained in auto accident investigation and lawyers willing to do the tedious work of sifting through large amounts of sometimes conflicting medical evidence. Cases like this one can also present delicate challenges related to relationships between the innocent injured people and the potentially responsible driver.

Our hopes and prayers are with Mr. Janiuk and his 8 year old passenger for a quick and complete recovery.
