‘I Only Looked Down for a Second’ Is Not a Legal Defense

April’s designation as Distracted Driving Awareness Month invites renewed attention to the issue, but the legal system has already begun to treat distracted driving with increasing clarity. The question is no longer whether the conduct is dangerous. The question is how directly it establishes negligence.

There is a phrase that appears in a significant number of serious motor vehicle cases.
