We are pleased to announce that Craig Murphey has joined the firm, now named Purchase, George & Murphey, P.C. Craig joins our team with over 25 years of experience as a "go-to" lawyer for insurance companies throughout Pennsylvania and our clients will get the benefit of that experience, particularly in those cases involving insurance claims and contracts.

Before joining our firm, Craig spent many years representing and advising insurance companies in various kinds of coverage cases, including those involving automobile, homeowner's and commercial liability insurance. He handled numerous cases that helped to shape Pennsylvania insurance law, particularly in the area of car insurance.

Beyond litigation, Craig counseled insurance companies in many aspects of their relationship with their insureds, including those involving claims of bad faith, fraud and breach of contract.

Craig also represented policyholders in disputes with their insurance companies over coverage, defense and claim handling and will now focus on the representation of individuals and businesses, frequently in their cases against insurance companies.

Craig is also a commercial litigator, representing companies and individuals in a wide variety of commercial lawsuits, including business torts, contract disputes and claims of breach of fiduciary or contractual duties.

Craig has been repeatedly honored as an outstanding lawyer and leader. For example, Craig has been recognized by The Best Lawyers in America® as the 2017 Pittsburgh region "Lawyer of the Year" for Personal Injury-Defense. Best Lawyers® honors only one lawyer in each practice area and region as "Lawyer of the Year." Craig has also been selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America® every year from 2012 to 2017.

Craig has also been selected to the Pennsylvania Super Lawyers list every year since 2011. Each year, no more than 5% of all Pennsylvania attorneys are selected by the research team at Super Lawyers to receive this honor.

Craig is also the current President of the Erie County Bar Association and past President of the Pennsylvania Defense Institute.

Now, when you call us, you have Craig on your side, too!
