October 1, 2010, ERIE, PA -- Clients of Purchase, George & Murphey, P.C., already served by the Erie personal injury team with the most inside insurance experience, will receive extra insider benefits.  One of the most experienced and high ranking insurance company professionals in the region has left the insurance side to help injured people in northwest Pennsylvania obtain the compensation they deserve and to which the law says they are entitled.  Mark Harrington, former Senior Claims Supervisor at Erie Insurance, has joined Purchase, George & Murphey, P.C. full time as Case Manager.

Mr. Harrington worked at Erie Insurance for 26 years as a claims adjustor, claims supervisor and, finally, as a Senior Claims Supervisor.  Mr. Harrington managed literally thousands of personal injury claims and evaluated dozens of northwest Pennsylvania injury lawyers.

"One of the first things we asked at any claim review meeting was, 'Who represents the claimant?'  If we didn't know the Pennsylvania injury lawyer, the next question was, 'Does he try cases?'" says Mr. Harrington.  "We knew that there were plenty of lawyers who would never try a case, who would just roll over and take what we offered.  And then there were lawyers who we knew would and could try a case.  The trial experience of the lawyer made a difference to us in our evaluation of the case."

After leaving Erie Insurance in 2009, Mr. Harrington worked as an independent consultant for a number of Pennsylvania's most well known personal injury law firms.  "I have seen the best personal injury lawyers in Erie, Meadville, Warren, Franklin and Mercer and I'm proud to be working for Purchase, George & Murphey, P.C.," said Mr. Harrington.

From working for Erie Insurance for 26 years, Mr. Harrington knows what factors make an impact on an insurance company's evaluation of a claim and, importantly, which do not.  "We hired Mark because we thought he presented a once in a career opportunity to better represent our clients.  There is literally no one out there who has both his level of knowledge and experience and a willingness to help injured people in their struggle to get compensation from the big insurance companies.  We think his contributions to our clients will be invaluable," said Eric Purchase.
