More than 100 gun owners attended the public forum in Waterford to learn about the rights and responsibilities that accompany a permit to carry a concealed weapon in Pennsylvania.

Representative Curt Sonney (R-Erie) hosted the educational forum. Tim George of Purchase, George & Murphey, P.C., Erie County Sheriff John Loomis, Trooper Steve Oler of the Pennsylvania State Police and Dr. Art Amann from Mercyhurst University spoke to the group on August 20, 2015. They addressed various topics which included how to obtain a concealed carry license, when and where gun owners can carry concealed firearms, under what circumstances someone is (and is not) justified in using deadly force, and where they can receive handgun training.

"There's a lot of misinformation about the rights and responsibilities of gun owners in Pennsylvania. We want to provide good information about this important topic. We believe that this is the best way to ensure safe and responsible gun ownership in our community," says Tim George.

The feedback from a series of seminars held earlier this year has been overwhelmingly positive and similar forums are scheduled in the future.
